A little house for moving day
Rice and salt through the door first, coins on the floor, and a small house in the pocket.

Moving into a new house in the Philippines comes with its own small rules. Many families carry rice and salt in first, before any furniture, so the house never goes without. Coins are scattered across the floor for luck. Some move in only when the moon is growing.
The Little House started as a gift for that day. It is a plain house with a pitched roof and one window, painted in ochre so it looks lit from inside.
Why a lit window
A lit window is the first thing seen when coming home late. It means someone is there, or that someone will be.
The house has no loop and no cord. It is meant for a pocket or the corner of a drawer, somewhere it will turn up now and then.
