The hollow is the point of it. Rubbing a smooth stone was an old way of passing a long wait, and the moon does the same job in a pocket.
It is printed lying flat, so the layer lines run across the face like faint tide marks. The hollow is sanded smooth by hand, the rest is left with its soft printed grain.
Care
Keep it out of a hot car and away from direct sun for long hours; printed plastic softens with heat. Wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry. Painted charms have a matte seal but are happiest kept away from perfume and alcohol. A cord that gets grubby can be washed with mild soap.
